The Wisconsin State Legislature is seeking a Legislative Assistant—Communications Director, who specializes in media, to perform the following duties:

  • Develop/implement the communications program and oversee/manage outreach, promotional, media and public relations activities, events, and announcements;
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate issues, events, and trends which impact the Senator’s legislative initiatives and formulate communication methods and strategies to use in response;
  • Advise on potential controversies, sensitive issues, problems, or negative impact and recommend communication strategies which are responsive to those issues;
  • Prepare press releases, newsletters, e-updates, constituent response messaging and citations;
  • Arrange press conferences and media interviews, with background and briefing information;
  • Function as a media spokesperson for the office, when appropriate;
  • Maintain the office’s social media accounts and website; and,
  • Complete special projects and other assigned duties.

Qualified individuals will have exceptional oral and written communications skills, a minimum of two years of experience developing/implementing communications and outreach programs, experience managing media and public relations activities/events/announcements,and social media experience with demonstrated expertise of social media platforms.

Salary is dependent upon experience.
