The Association Marketing Director reports directly to Chief Marketing and Digital Officer. This position is responsible for providing leadership and management of brand and marketing for CUNA’s trade association, membership, and CEO-focused engagement efforts. The Director will drive CUNA’s efforts to position itself the only national association that advocates for the entire credit union movement, empowers its growth, and instills confidence in credit union leaders.

The Director will drive CUNA’s efforts to position itself the only national association that advocates for the entire credit union movement, empowers its growth, and instills confidence in credit union leaders.

  • Creates and leads the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies and specific campaigns to drive CUNA towards its awareness, membership, and sales goals.
  • Enhances the awareness and positive image of CUNA. Strategically manages and leverages the brand in the successful promotion of CUNA.
  • Leads CUNA’s brand, persona, and marketing messaging, including oversight of the brand/marketing design team.
  • Leadership role in the marketing and digital department, and broader engagement/go-to-market team, collaborates with peers on overall efforts, team success, and contributions to CUNA.
  • Manages brand and association marketing/CEO team, budget, and other resources to support the business goals and objectives of CUNA.
  • Effectively translates business and engagement strategies into effective action plans.
  • Manages, monitors and measures activities to make improvements based on results, feedback, and market data.
  • Works with team as on knowledge acquisition and professional development.
  • Other duties and projects as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree preferred. 
  • Five plus years of experience leading brand and marketing initiatives, including experience with marketing and large, complex programs, products or services (B2B highly preferred); development experience in corporate brand; organizational marketing strategy; management of marketing team(s) to execute strategy, metrics development to show ROI; management of external relationships; management of budgets; and management of team and individuals. 
  • Strong, professional team player who can communicate, collaborate, and influence effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, strong executive-level presence and deep subject matter expertise. 
  • Experience in effectively choosing, deploying, and using marketing software/online applications. 
  • Depth of experience with integrated multi-media marketing systems. 
  • Strong strategic planning and leadership skills. 
  • Excellent project delivery/implementation skills and commitment to deadlines, processes, and policies. 
  • Energetic, flexible, and highly proactive; a proven team leader who has positively and productively impacted strategic initiatives. 
  • Excellent presentation and oral and written communications skills. 
  • Experience working with agencies (e.g. advertising, interactive, print). 
  • Comfortable working with colleagues in a variety geographic locations. 
  • Ability to travel approximately 20 - 30 days annually.
