This position will serve as a key member of the UnitedHealthcare Internal Communications team and will support - through project management and execution - team priorities, including a new intranet and companywide communication campaigns. This person will report to the Director of Internal Communications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support UnitedHealthcare intranet efforts through strong partnerships with leaders in other line of business segments
  • Project manage communication programs and meetings that span across UnitedHealthcare, developing innovative approaches
  • Consult with the lead internal communicators responsible for the shared services to forecast and plan resource requirements
  • Research and recommend storytelling angles for key company meetings and editorial
  • Create presentations, communication plans and other materials as required
  • Monitor and measure efficacy of internal communications, performing conceptual analyses as needed
  • Prioritize work to support the most crucial communication needs
  • Improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of existing communications within the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations 
  • 5+ years of corporate communication experience, including communication campaign management, planning, editing and proofreading 
  • 5+ years of experience writing, editing and proofreading in a deadline-driven environment 
  • Experience maintaining / managing a website (intranet), including working with IT and / or design vendors and agencies 
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) 
  • Self-driven and resourceful 
  • Experience with internal social media platforms 
  • Project management experience 
  • Creative thinking, the ability to understand the relationships and interconnections among projects, and logistics management are crucial success factors 
  • Work in a collaborative setting with UnitedHealthcare Internal and External Communications and UnitedHealth Group Corporate Communications teams 
  • Navigates across the organization (e.gl, matrix structures, leadership, key stakeholders) 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of our business (e.g., organization structures, business strategies, current initiatives, goals and objectives)

  • Mastery of AP style
  • Experience in managing employees

  • Adobe Master Collection programs (e.g., PhotoShop, Dreamweaver) including video / audio file editing and file conversion
