Hanley Wood Marketing is a full-service brand strategy and content marketing agency with over 30 years of experience serving Fortune 500 companies. The Junior Copywriter should be a compelling and artful storyteller, able to craft copy under the direction of our Associate and Creative directors. Our ideal candidate would have an understanding of how a narrative could be applied across a variety of media including digital, print and video.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for writing headlines and body copy for all forms of content including promotional materials, collateral, email, websites and landing pages, digital advertising, e-newsletters, video, animations and other copy needs. 
  • Partner with design and digital resources to develop original concepts and strategic solutions for clients. 
  • Contribute to creative concepting, ideation and internal brainstorms. 
  • Be a multitasker capable of juggling multiple timelines and priorities with ease. 
  • Have and understanding of social media and an appetite for keeping up with emerging trends. 
  • Review work to ensure solutions and quality meet client standards. 
  • Present ideas and creative concepts, internally and to clients, in a clear, professional and polished way. 
  • Support new business efforts, such as RFPs, new business presentations and marketing resources.

Secondary Duties:

  • Support and backup other writers and Creative Directors as needed.

Experience, Skills, and Talents Required:

  • 1- 2 years’ experience as a copywriter at an in-house marketing department, or at an advertising, content or marketing agency. 
  • Passion for writing, detail and strategy. 
  • Ideally with an understanding of best practices, especially for digital writing. 
  • Ability to present strategy and creative to clients in a manner that leads and persuades. 
  • Ability to incorporate feedback and use it as an opportunity to improve and grow as a copywriter. 
  • Portfolio of creative work/writing samples.

Education and Certifications Required:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Marketing, Journalism or English required
