This Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and assessing local Chicago-area markets, clients and opportunities, as well as creating and managing a customer portfolio through prospecting and regular follow up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, develop, and maintain client contacts and project opportunities with key prospects for the region 
  • Facilitate relationship-building activities and assists with the development of Cordogan Clark (CCA) staff to improve client relationship management skills 
  • Advocating for the positioning of CCA’s multi-dimensional service offerings within the Chicago area and Midwest regional markets 
  • Building upon the team’s growing design and delivery reputation and promoting their expertise through involvement in boards, industry organizations, and other activities along with fostering relationships with the brokerage, development and direct client communities 
  • Proactively researching, identifying, & qualifying opportunities that support the strategic goals of the firm 
  • Serving as the responsible and knowledgeable “face” of CCA when engaging prospective clients or other influencers 
  • Ensuring that the practice evolves in a manner which is consistent with Company goals and core values 
  • Setting overall project targets, budgets and other key performance indicators 
  • Securing a sufficient number of the appropriate assignments to meet the firm’s overall business goal 
  • Participate in business development activities through participation / membership in professional organizations (i.e. SMPS, AIA, ILCMA, IML, ILA, SCUP, etc.) 
  • Participate in Business Development strategic planning

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES:

  • Establishing new target client engagement strategies and reengagement approaches 
  • Utilizing CRM tools to monitor and report on client activity 
  • Maintaining a current understanding of the trends, influences and pressures of commercial building design in the Chicago area 
  • Working with CCA Market Sector Leaders, and the firm’s office leadership to develop a regional strategy for the acquisition of valued clients 
  • Developing cohesive and consistent messaging around the firm’s strategic vision, in collaboration with marketing leaders across the firm 
  • Employing social media to organize targeted marketing campaigns 
  • Positioning CCA for future design work through strong existing and potential client relationships 
  • Mentoring staff in business development and marketing strategies 
  • Provide strategic direction, teaming and positioning recommendations 
  • Research and support market development activities 
  • Provide tactical support to marketing department in development of proposals, presentations and additional collateral materials 
  • Facilitate development and implementation of strategic business development plans for office core groups 
  • Set up meetings and events with clients, internal teams and professional organizations

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field 
  • 4-8 years business development experience in an architectural, engineering or construction environment
