Zonta International is seeking an energetic individual who is ready to collaborate as a member of the team at our headquarters office located in Oak Brook, IL.

The Communications Associate provides digital and technological expertise, administrative assistance and project support to the Communications Department. Their work contributes to efforts to increase visibility of Zonta International, stimulate growth and retention in Zonta membership and increase contributions to the Zonta International Foundation.

This fast-paced, entry-level position encompasses a blend of responsibilities with the daily focus determined by project timing (membership renewal season, district conferences, education/scholarship deadlines, fundraising initiatives, special programs, etc.).

Key responsibilities and expectations of the Communications Associate role include:

  • Support the Zonta webmaster in maintaining the Zonta International website as a key communication and marketing tool 
  • Receive content and format layout for regular e-communications to Zonta’s membership 
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteer leaders to create and edit videos for use by Zonta clubs 
  • Maintain up-to-date email distribution lists for members, donors, special members, agency partners, etc. 
  • Manage content files, photos and videos both on the website and in electronic file archives 
  • Support basic sourcing and creation of images and icons for newsletters and on website 
  • Respond to member inquires and club logo requests 
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations and scripts. 
  • Assist in monitoring Zonta International’s social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube 
  • Respond to member inquiries via email and telephone 
  • Provide general administrative support to the Communications Department as required and assist with special projects as they arise

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Other desired skills and experiences include:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to edit and write in English 
  • Competencies in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred 
  • Fundamental video editing skills required 
  • Experience with website and social media platforms required 
  • Great interpersonal skills that are relatable to members whose first language is not English 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team 
  • Organized with a commitment to project management and deadlines, yet able to adapt to changing priorities 
  • Demonstrated personal participation in a membership organization/association or in a volunteer role 
  • International travel experience desired, fluency in a second language helpful 
  • Ability to work as needed to meet deadlines, participate in conference calls or support Board meetings (travel is possible but not required at this level)
