We are looking to fill a position left open by current Communications Director. This role will be responsible for the communication strategy of the church and its ministries. Communication to internal and external groups.

Role Summary/General Purpose of Role:

Articulate and craft the story of the mission and vision of Fox River Christian Church by creating and overseeing the strategy for all internal and external communications.

Key Result Areas and Responsibilities Include the Following:

1. Promotion

  • Develop and maintain system to organize, prioritize and communicate promotional items related to Fox River. 
  • Create communication strategies to market, inform and promote teaching series, big events and other ministry activities. 
  • Oversee all written materials, writing or approving all church-wide collateral materials. 
  • Create weekly electronic newsletter.

2. Web and Social Media

  • Manage all efforts related to the creation and development of Fox River Christian Church’s website(s). 
  • Proactively work with IT and the Creative Team to make sure Fox River maintains an effective presence on the web including style/presence, search engines, new technology. 
  • Write or approve church website materials. 
  • Manage ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to build following.

3. Internal Communications

  • Communicate style guide, communication strategy, and social media strategy to staff and key volunteers; follow up to ensure implementation across Fox River. 
  • Assist leadership by formulating internal communication messages to staff and key volunteer leaders. 
  • Provide input on disseminating information related to church projects, changes to staff, etc. 
  • Design and implement internal communications processes.

4. Marketing

  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a strategic marketing, communications and digital campaign that will enhance Fox River’s message in our surrounding communities. 
  • Form and administer traditional and digital marketing strategies and communication plans to expand and grow the ministries, campuses, and events.

5. Brand Management and Content Design

  • Ensure Fox River’s brand is consistently communicated throughout our campuses, our ministries, and each sermon series. 
  • Partner with Creative Team to create content that complements design of promotional materials related to church-wide activities. 
  • Manage the use of logos and images that represent Fox River Christian Church.

Accountable to/reports to/on team with/supervises or has subordinates:

This role reports to the Connection Leader, works closely with the Creative Team, and receives strategic direction from the Church Leadership Team.

Experience or other qualifications:

  • Should be a member of Fox River Christian Church or willing to begin the membership process immediately; able to fully commit to the mission, vision and values of Fox River
  • B.A. or B.S. in communication or related field
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in communications, marketing, or related field; previous church employment a plus
  • Experience in creating or executing communication plans
  • Skilled at writing, editing, and proofreading copy; excellent grammar and punctuation; and the flexibility to write in different styles for various audiences
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals
  • Experience managing social media accounts

Technical expertise:

  • Familiarity with CMS 
  • Basecamp (project management) 
  • Google Docs 
  • Microsoft Office 
  • Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Ability to develop and monitor a budget
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends

Position is listed as Full Time but open to Part Time applicants as well.
