Boeing has an opening for a communications specialist to provide communications support for the corporate employee communications team.

This position is responsible for writing, editing and publishing a broad range of news stories targeted primarily to employees that help inform and educate them about company strategies, initiatives and developments. Working closely with the corporate Human Resources Communications team, this communications specialist will have responsibility for collecting, editing and publishing news stories and announcements for the weekly editions of newsletters targeted to HR professionals and managers across the company. The successful candidate also will help develop, write, edit, and plan distribution of communications such as news releases, internal communications, and other materials; respond to requests for information; directly assist senior-level communications specialists in day-to-day communications activities; and support other communications activities as required. The communicator will need to have work experience in determining the requirements of diverse audiences and developing communications that deliver targeted messages in an effective and efficient manner. He or she should have superior project management skills that include a proven ability to establishing priorities, meeting tight deadlines and managing a multi-faceted internal review process. Frequent early morning or evening shift work required. Leading candidate(s) for this position will be required to take writing and editing tests.

Additional Responsibilities:

Ability to write clear, compelling news stories, feature stories for a wide range of diverse audiences. Possess and exercise strong strategic communications counseling skills, including the ability to assess business partner needs and expectations proactively; flexibility in responding quickly to a changing environment and resolve complex issues before they become problems; strong attention to detail, accuracy, consistency and follow-through.

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with very little oversight 
  • Able to make decisions that could ultimately impact the company's reputation 
  • Think proactively and work collaboratively 
  • Experience writing employee communications that have been distributed directly to an employee audience 
  • More than 3 year developing and implementing strategic communications plans

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism or public relations 
  • 3-5 years of experience writing for general or trade news organizations or for corporate employee communications 
  • Proficiency in applying AP stylebook journalism standards

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
