This individual will be a key member of the E&I acquisition team. He/she will be responsible for helping to develop comprehensive marketing plans, by segment/channel, working closely with acquisition marketing VP & Portfolio team leads, and key business leaders within the assigned Portfolio. The individual in this position will serve as a marketing lead, helping health plans and channel leaders in delivering marketing strategies to meet business segment/channel business objectives. The individual will translate segment/channel business plans, including opportunity identification; championing audience insights and competitive intelligence to inform and shape creative briefs; manage the creative process with both internal and external agencies; directing resources and manage cross-functional teams to build/launch marketing programs; budget management including forecasting; facilitating meetings with stakeholders driving dialogue, planning and supporting successful delivery.

Individual will have the opportunity to drive innovative thinking in determining disruptive marketing activation to drive leads with assigned segments/channels. Demonstrate considerable knowledge of marketing and communication principles, practices and techniques applicable to the marketing environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plan, by segment/channel, working closely with key partners and other marketing key leaders 
  • Interpret/champion audience insights and program performance to define or influence performance improvement strategies 
  • Lead alignment at the cross functional and market level around the creative process, performance improvement opportunities, goals and status
  • Lead development and monitoring of action plans that align with business/market strategies; provide prioritization identification and adjust strategies as needed to ensure success 
  • Partner with data/analytics leads to build thoughtful and relevant program performance dashboards/analyses on various communication touchpoints (e.g. traditional, digital, direct response etc); monitor program performance; champion performance insights with key stakeholders to deliver best in class marketing ROI 
  • Partner within E&I and across UHC/UHG business segments to identify, share and leverage best practices or learnings to advance the acquisition work 
  • Oversee and guide the implementation of the marketing plan from strategy design, creative development, media planning, production and distribution 
  • Build relationships with key business partners to advance the acquisition agenda, action plans and performance. This includes segment leadership, functional leadership, and areas of our enterprise that are committed to advancing lead demand generation 
  • Spend time in the field with key stakeholders and/or sales leadership, acting as face of the marketing function advising and leading marketing thought-leadership 
  • Direct experience in shaping and presenting annual marketing plans 
  • Willing to travel (15%)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred in Marketing 
  • 3+years of direct experience in marketing and communications 
  • 3+ years of business strategy and execution experience, including proven ability to lead cross functional initiatives to a successful outcome 
  • Experience with market research and its use in influencing business strategy; demonstrated ability to learn and leverage audience insights and market dynamics 
  • Successful history/experience influencing and collaborating with others 
  • 2+ years of leading marketing, advertising and promotion activities; evaluating creative 
  • Proven experience and results in managing and prioritizing competing deliverables 
  • Experience in a deadline driven environment 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA 
  • Marketing and communications experience in a health care and/or service industry setting 
  • Healthcare or Service Industry or Consumer products 
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both oral and written 
  • Self-starter who thrives in a highly matrix environment 
  • Ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity 
  • Proven organization skills
