The Village of Johnson Creek is seeking a dynamic candidate to join our team as the Director of Tourism & Promotion, promoting one of the fastest growing communities in Wisconsin.

The successful applicant will have significant responsibility to develop and implement the tourism and promotion strategy for the Village, receiving input from the Tourism & Promotion Commission and the Village Administrator. Areas of responsibility may include maintaining a robust, timely and relevant tourism and promotion presence on a variety of digital resources; answering questions from and providing resources for transient tourists; coordinating Tourism & Promotion Commission agendas and minutes; attending Tourism & Promotion Commission meetings; promoting, processing, and implementing Tourism Grants; and coordinating media coverage of local events and occurrences to promote the Village of Johnson Creek.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Village is particularly interested in candidates that are creative, collaborative, flexible, friendly, and enthusiastic. This position will perform all general administrative tasks associated with Tourism & Promotion, will attend to the function of the Tourism & Promotion Commission, implement Tourism & Promotion initiatives, and develop long-range strategic plans to promote the Village of Johnson Creek to visitors and enhance Tourism. This position is appointed by the Village President with approval of the Tourism and Promotion Commission, with day-to-day supervision provided by the Village Administrator. This position will work an average of 24 hours a week throughout the year, but the days and hours of work may fluctuate with the needs and workload of the position.

Education or experience related to tourism, marketing, promotion, or community engagement. Well qualified applicants should have a minimum of three years increasingly responsible experience as a Tourism Director, Assistant Director, or similar position with significant experience related to marketing, public relations, budgeting, strategic planning, or digital marketing. Must be proficient with office technology, Microsoft Office software, website maintenance and a variety of digital communication platforms. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is required, with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field preferred. The Village will consider equivalent combinations of training and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Education or experience related to tourism, marketing, promotion, or community engagement. Well qualified applicants may have a minimum of three years increasingly responsible experience with marketing, public relations, budgeting, strategic planning, or digital marketing. Experience as a Tourism Director, Assistant Director or similar position may be beneficial. Must be proficient with office technology, Microsoft Office software, website maintenance and digital communication platforms such as Facebook. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is required, with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field preferred.

The Village of Johnson Creek provides a comprehensive benefit package including paid vacation and holidays; health, life and dental insurance coverage; and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Benefits are pro-rated for part-time positions such as this. Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
