Are you a talented graphic designer who is passionate about promoting a public library’s services and resources? Does the opportunity to be a dynamic member of a team in the process of planning and moving into a brand new Helen Plum Library building excite you? If you are nodding your head vigorously up and down, and you are an energetic individual who would enjoy working collaboratively with our Marketing team and other library staff - we are looking for you!

The New Helen Plum Library will provide our community with a 21st century library facility. With much more space, the new Helen Plum Library will provide services like increased technology training, a creative area, a media lab, drive-thru convenience and additional community study and gathering spaces. The essential responsibilities and duties of this 40-hour a week, full-time position include (but are not limited to):

  • Designing high-quality and effective design solutions for projects including newsletters, brochures, invitations, banners, posters, promotional merchandise and signage and preparing for distribution. 
  • Produces high-quality and effective design solutions for the Library’s digital space including social media, blog and website content. 
  • Distributes listings and images of programs and events to local media and online. 
  • Coordinates and implements both internal and external special Library events. 
  • Participates in outreach efforts (Occasional evenings and weekends)

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Art or a related field
  • High level of experience in Adobe Creative Cloud (Mac)
  • Willingness to learn about library procedures and library philosophy. 
  • Self-starting and comfortable working autonomously on assigned projects. 
  • Excellent time management skills. 
  • Maintains self-proofing activities to ensure quality of production. 
  • Receptive and adaptive to change. 
  • Must be comfortable receiving and applying creative direction and constructive feedback. 
  • Intermediate photography and video skills. 
  • Professional in appearance and demeanor. 
  • Excellent command of English, grammar and punctuation.

Salary:

  • Salary range: $20.52 - $24.11 an hour (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Includes IMRF pension contribution and accrued PTO
