The University of Wisconsin-Madison division of continuing studies is seeking two part time Marketing Content Specialist to provide writing and editing expertise to promoting credit and noncredit educational offerings at the University of Wisconsin.

Writing/Editing (75%)

  • Writes, edits, and proofreads copy for print/electronic marketing collateral, promoting credit and noncredit educational offerings at the University of Wisconsin
  • Writes, edits, and distributes news releases, editorials, feature stories
  • Works across multiple units and departments to produce compelling stories that engage learners and illustrate the positive outcomes of lifelong learning at UW-Madison
  • Contributes specific copywriting, public relations, social media, and content marketing expertise to the development of comprehensive marketing plans for a variety of credit and noncredit educational offerings, including degree programs, individual courses, certificate programs, conferences, and Summer Term.

Social Media (10%)

  • Supports social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) content development Divisional Support/Internal

Communication (10%)

  • Prepares speeches and public presentations
  • Contributes to an effective Continuing Studies internal communication plan

Other (5%)

  • Participates in campus-wide communication and external relations teams, developing collegial relationships with other communications and marketing offices
  • Performs other duties as necessary

A Bachelor's degree is required (most relevant academic fields include Journalism, English, Communication Arts, or related field).

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, strategic communications, marketing communications, or a related field.
  • Experience writing and editing material in a variety of styles (e.g., news stories, editorials, feature stories, marketing copy)
  • Working knowledge of AP Style, and the proven ability to work quickly, accurately, and independently under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities in a detail-oriented environment and contribute to the success of the entire team
  • Proven ability to work with diverse internal and external audiences with energy, collegiality, patience, passion, curiosity, and humor

Candidate may also have one or more of the following desired but not required qualifications:

  • Experience with project management software
  • Digital marketing experience, including social media, mass-market emails, content marketing, blogging, or any level of expertise with WordPress
  • Experience in an agency setting, responding quickly to the unique needs of diverse clients
  • Professional experience in a public university setting or working knowledge of the higher-education sectord
