Marketing Manager

WorldChicago seeks a full-time dynamic self-starter enthusiastic about citizen diplomacy and cultural exchange to lead our marketing and communications outreach. The Marketing Manager is a key team member responsible for articulating WorldChicago’s mission and programs to diverse audiences across Chicago and the world.

The major responsibilities of the Marketing Manager include:

Outreach & Communications

  • Write and design weekly newsletter and e-blasts;
  • Maintain distribution list
  • Develop social media strategy and write and manage posts across platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Assist with homestay host recruitment marketing;
  • Develop host recruitment campaigns and strategize flyer distribution with targeted locations
  • Lead public relations, write press releases, and cultivate media relationships
  • Write and manage website content and updates
  • Serve as staff liaison to board committees

Event Planning

  • Coordinate, promote, and execute WorldChicago’s three annual fundraisers: International Women’s Day luncheon, Spring Diplomacy Luncheon, Fall Cultural fundraiser
  • Lead Young Professionals Committee and guide planning and promotion of Young Professionals event series
  • Coordinate live, silent, and online auctions;
  • Procure auction item donations


  • Research foundation and corporate grant opportunities & prepare grant proposals
  • Develop individual giving fundraising campaigns

Membership Recruitment

  • Administer annual membership drive and on-going membership recruitment

Visitor Program Coordination

  • Assist as necessary with international delegation programming

WorldChicago seeks candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, development, or related field 
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and comfort working in a small team 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with WordPress (or other CMS) and Constant Contact (or other email marketing software) E tapestry 
  • Demonstrated interest in international affairs 
  • Design and photography skills a plus
