UW Oshkosh is looking for an energetic marketing professional who can handle marketing project management, writing, marketing and communications strategy and web projects. The position will be part of a fun and dynamic marketing team and will help meet the needs and goals of the institution as well as individual departmetns at UW Oshkosh.

Reporting to director of marketing, the associate marketing manager will serve as an integral member of the UMC marketing communications team. This position will be responsible for supporting the University’s marketing and communications strategy by working with campus stakeholders to produce high-quality marketing materials in addition to news and feature articles.

The associate marketing manager will serve as an account liaison for various departments at the University and will meet with stakeholders to assess marketing needs and opportunities, conduct research, recommend strategy and produce marketing deliverables.In addition to marketing coordination, the associate marketing manager will also contribute to the content strategy of the University through the contribution of copy for web, news releases, feature stories, social networks, developmental efforts, newsletters, advertising and e-communication.

Within the UMC team, this position serves as a writer/editor for University publications and other marketing products, including Engage, Venture and CONtact magazines and websites, and various college, department and program materials. The associate marketing manager will champion the institution’s marketing strategy, develop best practices, maintain high standards of copywriting and serve as a project manager, providing creative direction, as needed.

Required qualifications include: 

  1. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or closely related field
  2. Proven experience working as a marketing coordinator or in a similar capacity
  3. Thorough understanding of marketing activities (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/Social media etc.) and market research methods
  4. Knowledge of web-based marketing tools and content management systems
  5. Well organized and detail oriented6. Exceptional communication and writing skills
  6. Skilled proficiency to interview, research, develop and write original stories/articles, news releases, magazine features and social network content
  7. Experience developing marketing materials for internal and external audiences
  8. Skilled proficiency to edit and proofread
  9. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) writing style

Preferred qualifications include: 

  1. Minimum three years of experience in a marketing specialist or comparable role
  2. Experience working with WordPress CMS
  3. Demonstrated ability to create marketing, communications and/or media relations plans
  4. Experiene working in higher education 

$36,790–$43,000 and an excellent benefits package.
