Festival City Symphony, a 501c3 nonprofit classical symphony orchestra, welcomes an experienced arts administrator to oversee the operations for our seven-concert season, which includes four ticketed concerts for general audiences and three free concerts for children. The Operations Director, an independent contractor, will be a passionate, detail-oriented leader who will handle daily operations, marketing and management responsibilities.

  • Oversight of the Personnel Manager regarding rehearsal and concert scheduling
  • Maintaining operating budget and payroll, in partnership with accountant and under the guidance of the Board 
  • Coordination of guest audiences at performances and volunteer coordination 
  • Negotiation and creation of agreements with guest artists 
  • Writing of endowment and grant requests, including management of UPAF annual partnership 
  • Contracting for rehearsal hall and performance hall rental, including communications with venue managers, technical and security personnel 
  • Execution of advertising, marketing, public relations, onsite promotion and coordination of relationships with media outlets, with assistance of agency partner, including composition and design of program, newsletter and brochure copy 
  • Administration of website, Facebook and Twitter profiles 
  • Management customer outreach, subscriber lists and promotional distributions using provided phone, email, computer, printer/copier and related programs, service and maintenance
  • Basic accounting and expense management experience 
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and have access to personal, insured vehicle 
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours for concerts and special events 
  • Applicants would benefit from experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, and Constant Contact or other email distribution service.
