Ascedia is seeking a highly driven and enthusiastic PR & Social Media Marketing Intern for fall 2017. If you are passionate about digital marketing and media relations, enjoy working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and want to learn about agency life through first-hand experience, you could be our new teammate!

The right candidate has solid writing skills, the ability to craft compelling pitches, social media savvy and a strong desire to learn the ins and outs of digital marketing from an award-winning team. Intern will work directly with the Agency Marketing Manager and members of Ascedia’s business development, account management, project management and creative teams to create content and support digital marketing initiatives. Intern will learn the tactics needed to successfully launch press and social media campaigns and drive lead generation. A successful intern will be detail-oriented and can keep a strong sense of balance when faced with daily and ongoing project deadlines along with a hands-on, can-do attitude.

The candidate must have availability during regular office hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Monday –Friday. This is a paid internship for 15-20 hours per week. The internship runs September 2017 through December 2017 with the opportunity to extend it into the spring semester.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Written communications and media outreach via press releases, articles, alerts 
  • Management of media monitoring and coverage through reports and clips 
  • Researching new media contacts to expand current media database 
  • Assist in planning and staffing PR appearances 
  • Writing social media posts and blogs when appropriate 
  • Create and update various marketing contact databases and other data entry projects 
  • Coordinate and research media opportunities, media trend research and new business research 
  • Tracks competitive trends for a variety of industries 
  • Develop content and execute the social media calendar for the organization’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn channels 
  • Lead social media efforts during events (i.e. live tweeting, photo albums) 
  • Opportunities for additional projects based on interest and experience 
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned

Successful candidates will be enrolled in junior or senior year of college with completed coursework in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field. Prior internship experience is a plus.

Candidates should also exhibit the following qualities:

  • Ambition, desire and passion to work in the PR/digital marketing field 
  • Fundamental understanding of PR strategy and tactics (media relations experience preferred) 
  • Fundamental understanding of social media strategy, content development and metrics 
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to take initiative with a "self-starter" attitude 
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines 
  • Attention to detail and high standards for producing accurate and quality work 
  • Sense of humor and ability to brainstorm out of the box ideas 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint 
  • Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube

The PR & Social Media Internship is a paid internship at 15-20 hours per week. Intern must be available between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. starting September through December 2017. Exact hours can be flexible with student's class schedule.
