Nelson Schmidt is seeking a public relations professional with 3-5 years of PR writing experience to join our Milwaukee office. In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must possess excellent verbal, writing and editing skills. The ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects with various clients is imperative. Knowledge of social media platforms and basic Microsoft office programs are required.

  • Outstanding writing skills to develop pitches, bylined articles, press releases, press kit materials, case studies, white papers, blog posts, social media and other compelling content.
  • Edit and proofread client materials.
  • Research and develop creative story angles and be able to write in different brand voices.
  • Work as part of an account team to develop and implement client proposals.
  • Manage project timelines across multiple client accounts and prepare regular status updates/reports for client meetings and calls.
  • Manage wire distribution of press releases.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communications, marketing or related field.
  • 3-5 years of public relations experience as a working public relations professional, journalist or content creator. B2B experience a strong plus.
  • Superb storyteller.
  • Ability to grasp complex issues across multiple industries within tight deadlines.
  • Effective communicator with clients and team members.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Detail oriented, and familiarity with AP style.
  • Team player with “can do” attitude.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Proven understanding and effective use of social media platforms and communications tools.
