We are seeking a Senior Director, Marketing and Communications to serve as a member of the Agency's Senior Leadership team and Director of the Marketing department. This individual develops and drives an integrated communications program which informs diverse constituencies of the full capabilities and talents JCFS and JVS Chicago has to offer. Key initiatives include the development and implementation of a strategic vision for the Agency’s Marketing department, generation of increased demand for our services, and generation of enthusiastic philanthropic support of our work. This position is based out of our Joy Faith Knapp Children's Center located in West Rogers Park, Chicago.

What would you do?

Marketing Manager

  • Provides counsel and support to enable board and staff to effectively represent the agency’s mission, goals and services to prospective supporters throughout the Jewish community as well as in the community at large.
  • Develops and implements methodology to systematically evaluate efficacy of marketing and PR efforts.
  • Develops and manages agency marketing and communications budgets including cost-effective and efficient use of employed and contracted services.

Communications Manager

  • Ensures seamless brand integration across all program-specific and Agency-wide internal and external communications.
  • Creates or oversees creation of copy and creative to drive messaging for all communications, including on-line and off. Includes annual reports, press releases, and editorial copy for publication, speeches and other collateral materials.
  • Ensures currency and accuracy of websites and drives strategy to maximize use of web, social media; etc.

Public Relations Manager

  • Serves as an articulate and persuasive spokesperson for the organization to the external community in both promotion of agency and in crisis communications.
  • Directly or through staff, develops and maintains media relationships to maximize access to promotional opportunities for agency.
  • Leverages public relations opportunities to build brand, raise agency reputation, support agency objectives.

Staff Supervision

  • Manages Marketing staff including performance management, training, hiring and retention recommendations, and timekeeping administration.
  • Monitor and manage the daily workflow of the office.

What have you done?

  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree from accredited program in marketing, communications or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Gained ten or more years of increasingly responsible communications, public relations and/or marketing experience. 
  • Gained three or more years of experience supervising staff. 
  • Gained varied experience across disciplines (marketing, PR,) preferred, with direct exposure to healthcare, human services, education or mental health strongly desired. 
  • Gained knowledge of or experience with non-profit organizations either in a professional or volunteer capacity. 
  • Developed proficiency in typically used computer software including Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of statistical software a strong plus.

What are you able to do?

  • Able to travel frequently within the Chicago metropolitan area. Occasional regional or national travel as needed.
