Senior UX Designer

The Role:

AVIA is creating AVIA Connect, a platform to drive digital innovation in healthcare. At AVIA we’re creating new ways for our members to collaborate and share knowledge. We’re looking for someone with a lot of vision, experience, and passion who can own big product design initiatives. We are still early in the development of the platform and have a ton of creative ideas to design, test, and build. If you love designing great user experiences and interfaces and you want to leave your mark on a new product and on the future of an industry, then you’d be a great fit for our team!

You’ll be involved in every step of creating AVIA Connect – researching the best possible solutions, creating user flows, designing mockups, designing high-fidelity UIs, and creating custom icons and graphics. Knowledge of HTML/CSS is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own big design projects (think social platforms, collaboration tools, analytics interfaces) 
• Work directly with our product managers in researching, conceiving, wireframing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences for digital products 
• Work directly with our engineers, delivering and iterating on product specs and assets 
• Work directly with other designers to envision and iterate concepts 
• Create the look and feel for web / mobile interfaces, reinforcing AVIA’s brand and voice 
• Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the team

Desired Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of UI design and interactive work, with experience in web and mobile interfaces 
• A solid design background with an obsessive eye for visual and interaction details 
• A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies 
• Understand best practices and design patterns in in web and mobile app design 
• A solid foundation in typography, layout and design 
• Experience with transitions, animation, motion design and dynamic interaction 
• Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision 
• Self-motivated and able to efficiently run with a project without close supervision 
• Strong problem-solving skills 
• Ability to receive and process feedback and constructive criticism 
• Excellent communication skills – you can clearly articulate your design decisions 
• Expertise in UX software such as InVision, Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite 
• Basic knowledge of HTML & CSS is helpful 
• Passion about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation - you keep up to date on ideas, trends and technologies

This is a full-time and salaried position based in Chicago that includes health, dental, and vision benefits. The position includes an initial three-month contract-to-hire period.
