Special Events & Fundraising Intern

JDRF is offering a competitive for credit, unpaid internship, beginning January 2018 and running through May 2018. With the right candidate an option to extend through August 2018 would be offered. The event intern will assist Peer to Peer (P2P) and Signature Events development staff in the overall planning and execution of four key fundraising events (i.e. Gala, Ride, Walk and School/Youth Initiatives).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with P2P and Signature Events teams to ensure fundraising goals are realized or exceeded
  • Provide event management and administrative support to events including soliciting event participation/support of JDRF’s mission, auction procurement, data management, volunteer coordination and stewardship
  • Support chapter marketing campaigns and drive engagement activity through the management of JDRF branded-social media platforms including Facebook and chapter website

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in special event fundraising, nonprofit management, business and/or communications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills – ability to manage time and meeting deadlines
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent phone presence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Outlook experience preferred
  • Experience with Facebook page, WordPress website and SEO management
  • Internship begins mid-January (start date flexible) and runs through the end of May, 2018
  • Must be able to commit 10-15 hours per week
  • Must be able to attend the JDRF Gala on Saturday, March 10, 2018
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle for local travel. (Mileage is reimbursable)
