We are hiring a Sr. Marketing Communications Specialist to help plan, implement, execute, and evaluate marketing communications programs and product launches that help meet the marketing goals and strategies for the CRHF business. Programs include all elements of the marketing communications mix (i.e., product messaging and concepts, print and electronic promotional tools, journal and on-line advertising, conventions related tactics, patient education materials, and digital media content delivered via mobile apps, websites, social media channels, video, animations, and email, etc.)

A Day in the Life.

Planning: Utilize expertise in marketing communications planning process. Work with cross-functional teams to develop communications plans for CRHF products. The plans will articulate the communications objectives, strategies, tactics, budget, and resources needed to support the marketing objectives as set forth in marketing plans. Percent of time: 20%

Project Management: Manage the implementation and completion of communications tactics, as outlined in the marketing communications plan. Balance multiple projects. Manage the strategic positioning process and the development of key messages. Supervise writers, designers and/or agencies. Manage the internal review process for assigned projects. Schedule/track progress against plan, assembling necessary resources to accomplish task. Monitor and report project status to product managers and communications manager. Measure effectiveness of tactics. Percent of time: 40%

Relationship Management: Maintain strong, productive working relationships with marketing product managers, communications department personnel, legal and regulatory partners. Develop and maintain an understanding of what communications vehicles are most effective for all external customers. Percent of time: 15%

Budget Management: Manage resources efficiently and effectively (project dollars and people) to get maximum return on investment. Track actual spending to estimates, and report status upon completion of programs/projects. Percent of time: 10%

Writing and Research: Understand and apply the elements of writing excellence. Manage the writing of materials that translate features into benefits to predispose customers to Medtronic products or translate complex concepts into understandable language to meet an information need, utilizing Medtronic Corporate Verbal Brand Standards. Conduct appropriate research to test messages and/or communications content. Percent of time: 15%

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • 5+ years experience working in marketing communications role in a corporate or agency environment (3 year with Masters) 
  • Previous Medtronic experience in a marketing or marcom role

Nice to Haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Marketing Communications, Marketing, Advertising
  • Experience in Marketing or Communications in medical device or pharmaceutical industry or knowledge of those industries’ key audiences
  • Ability to create materials that promote Medtronic products to gain competitive advantage
  • Proven ability to understand global marketing communications principles and cultural issues
  • Understanding and experience in marketing to physicians and consumers
  • Understanding of how Medtronic products work and how they are used in the clinical setting
