Under general supervision, to write and produce content for various college marketing initiatives including, but not limited to, the college website, college publications, digital advertising and social media channels. Work requires the ability to understand and apply standard marketing principles and procedures in accordance with college marketing and web standards.

1. Write and edit copy for the College publications including newsletters, brochures, scripts, advertising, web site, social medial and other promotional efforts.
2. Regularly audit Website and College publications. Work with departments to initiate and revise publications for up-to-date descriptions, clarity, grammar and writing style.
3. Promote the College through social media sites and maintain current event messaging and accurate response according to College image, mission, vision and values on a daily basis.
4. Monitor social media and website data analytics. Produce reports as need for demographic and utilization data related to web and social media usage.
5. Coordinate copy and photos for the College publications including the website and social media.
6. Work closely with the department manager/supervisor and College staff in determining and meeting college wide marketing and communication needs.
7. Coordinate efforts to assess the effectiveness of College communications including the use of surveys and other feedback mechanisms.
8. Communicate efficiently with customers and College staff to respond to inquiries, needs and issues.
9. Participate on College and Statewide committees who provide input in establishing objectives, standards, and guidelines for appropriate content, image, and to share ideas or best practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences and on many levels of sophistication from complex, technical information to feature stories.
3. Thorough knowledge of AP English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
4. Thorough knowledge of social media platforms.
5. Knowledge of marketing concepts.
6. Ability to work effectively with others.
7. Aptitude for organization, setting priorities, accuracy and handling multiple tasks.
8. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and self motivate.Education and Experience

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Public Relations or related field.
2. Three years of verifiable professional writing experience.

Salary: $49,671 - $60,315 Annually

The Writer/Marketing Specialist supports the Marketing and Outreach department and is available on or before April 1st, 2018.

Position Information:

This is a full- time, 12 month per calendar year position. Hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Salary is listed at the 2017-18 rates.
