Responsibilities:

External Communications

  • Disseminate daily media monitoring report summarizing news pertinent to MSI to a core group of cross-divisional employees 
  • Draft media materials, including but not limited to press releases, media alerts, Q&A’s, fact sheets, etc. 
  • Work with communications director to compile quarterly performance report 
  • Work with the communications team to mine stories across the Museum that help to further business objectives and proactively pitch stories as necessary 
  • Assist with reactive media requests, as well as interview scheduling and preparation as necessary 
  • Evaluate opportunities for industry/association partnerships, awards and certifications 
  • Develop strong relationships with key constituents across the Museum 
  • Work with communications manager to execute all aspects of the film application process, including contract preparation and fee negotiation 
  • Assist with planning events, including press conferences, media tours and public programming

Internal Communications

  • Assist in developing and executing the internal communications strategy 
  • Support the planning and executing of large internal communications initiatives and programs (ex: Town Hall meetings) 
  • Manage and create content for Museum news and updates, employee newsletters, intranet, and general operating announcements 
  • Counsel Museum partners on the appropriate communication and ensure content is created and published in a timely manner 
  • Serve as primary liaison with MSI’s internal design team to create and edit guest-facing communications as necessary (i.e., Museum map)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or similar field with one (1) to three (3) years public relations or journalism experience 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently 
  • Strong organizational skills, including event planning and coordination 
  • Strong collaborator who works well independently or on team projects. 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
