General Summary of the Purpose of the Position:

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for social media support, internal and external communication creation, PR activities, internal and external event support and writing duties. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Communications Manager and Communication Specialists to implement communications strategies for Starkey Hearing Technologies – including the Starkey brand and other brands.

Approach and Deployment (What to Do & How to Do It)

Provide social media strategy and implementation support

  • Execute on social media campaigns, contribute to a monthly calendar of social media content; work with Communications Specialists to ensure a cohesive message, voice and seamless integration between websites, social and other communication channels
  • Provide strategic thinking, creative and engaging content for social media activities. Integrate communication strategies across public relations, internal, online and social media avenues 
  • Write and distribute social media materials to retail and professional teams 
  • Demonstrate performance improvement of social media program via reporting 
  • Write and/or edit social content when needed across all retail social channels, both customer and consumer-facing 
  • Under guidance of Communications Specialist, offer online customer service support for social media inquiries

Create and support internal and external communication under the mentorship of the Communications Specialist

  • Support, create and manage various internal and external email campaigns as needed 
  • Manage and create StarNet posts, which are integral for employee engagement

Provide support of public relations activities

  • Provide strategic thinking and input on public relations activities and work with the Communications Manager to integrate communication strategies across public relations, internal, online and social media avenues 
  • Help write and distribute targeted press materials to trade and consumer media

Provide planning, writing and editing support for Innovations on an as needed basis

  • Write and edit articles 
  • Provide planning support during monthly meeting

Provide proofreading support for all marketing materials as needed

  • Proofread as needed 
  • Provide back-up to Marketing Proofreader when needed

Contribute to the strategy and writing of various blogs and articles

  • Contribute to content; work with Communications Specialists to ensure seamless integration between blog, articles and other communication channels 
  • Support content for social media, blogs, articles, press releases

Support events through social media

  • Events would be internal employee events, customer-facing events and community engagement/sponsorship events (some evenings and weekends required)

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • 4-year college degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing required. 
  • Hearing industry experience preferred. 
  • Agency experience preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of computer tools required 
  • Knowledge of media databases and media monitoring tools preferred 
  • Proficient with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube and have a working knowledge of Snapchat and Pinterest

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in English required 
  • Willingness to immerse in hearing aid industry 
  • Team player 
  • Ability to organize and execute plans efficiently
