The Pharmacy Network Communications Manager, will provide comprehensive, collaborative communications leadership and guide development and execution of high - impact communications that inform and educate the Pharmacy Providers in OptumRx Networks, on client programs and services and needed information. The primary function is to be responsible for ALL Communication that will be provided to the Pharmacy Provider Network, from fax blast communication, proactive communication projects and the Pharmacy Provider Manual. This position requires expertise and knowledge of PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager) activities, Pharmacy Provider functions with PBM, continued communication with legal and knowledge of the Pharmacy Provider Manual.

The communications manager is responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of assigned communications for OptumRx. Primary responsibility will be to manage assigned aspects of communications with OptumRx to Pharmacy Provider Network in partnership with reporting analyst, the OptumRx Client Account Managers, Legal, other leaders, and the Director of Pharmacy Network Management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages communications for OptumRx to Pharmacy Provider Network 
  • Develops and implements strategic and tactical plans for communications initiatives that are aligned with OptumRx' overall communications efforts 
  • Seeks out and promotes new avenues for communications efforts for the Pharmacy Provider Network 
  • Manages the process of gathering content, writing, editing and securing approval for assigned communications from subject matter experts 
  • Helps create any necessary communication announcements for emergencies, natural disasters and know downtime for systems 
  • Review and approve Pharmacy Focus Newsletter on a monthly basis 
  • Collaborates with Director to ensure messages are aligned and accurate for specifically indicated projects 
  • Assists with the OptumRx Provider Portal and works closely with key constituents to ensure information is accurate and timely in order to meet the needs of pharmacy providers and clients 
  • Collaborates with account managers and subject matter experts to respond accurately to questions and directs written response 
  • Proactively builds effective relationships and positive communication with internal departments in Industry Relations to assist with to quick turnaround deliverable communications requests 
  • Champions OptumRx brand standards in all communications 
  • Understands business dynamics, cycles, products and marketing initiatives and helps identify, prioritize and execute communications that ensure adherence to the OptumRx brand 
  • Collaborates with OptumRx resources to help communicate technical outages and issue resolution 
  • Develops and manages all of the Pharmacy Provider Manual 
  • Demonstrate understanding of our business (e.g., organization structures, business strategies, current initiatives, goals, and objectives, global businesses) 
  • Collaborate with applicable stakeholders to help define their communications needs and preferences (e.g., business objectives or issues to be addressed, desired outcomes, root cause analysis) 
  • Manage communication projects such as Pharmacy Provider Survey and perform post - campaign evaluation of survey and identify lessons learned and recommend changes for future campaigns based on results 
  • Design / recommend effective feedback processes (e.g., surveys, email) 
  • Revise / update communications content / approach as needed, based on the need of client account teams 
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends in communications 
  • Provide training / coaching / feedback to those reporting to this position

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations 
  • 5+ years of Communications experience 
  • People Management Experience 
  • Experience in professional writing and editing experience 
  • Experience working with full suite of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Experience in translating technical and scientific information into layman's terms 
  • Experience in interpreting Legal Language and working with Regulatory Affairs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PBM experience 
  • Provider or Healthcare Communications experience
