H.B. Fuller is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to develop, produce and distribute a wide range of internal and external communications, initiatives and programs. He/she manages segment-wide communications materials and activities that are aligned with the company’s strategic plan and are designed to drive employee engagement, strengthen the H.B. Fuller brand, and increase demand for the company’s products and services. The position is located at the company’s global headquarters in Vadnais Heights, MN.

The position manages all elements of regional communications, including digital marketing, advertising and PR, social media content and campaign development, promotional material development and production, tradeshows, executive meetings, presentations and Engineering Adhesives segment events, and employee announcements.

The Communications Manager reports to the Director of Global Communications with indirect reporting to the Director of Global Product Management and Marketing for the Engineering Adhesives segment.

The Communications Manager will have primary responsibilities for brand and content management, event management, and leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Model alignment with H.B. Fuller corporate strategy and global segment business goals.

Partner with EA leaders to reinforce the company vision, mission, policies and values, and build employees’ engagement and contribution to the business.

Manage the work of creative agencies and communications vendors and contractors, such as interpreters/translators, designers, photographers, A/V teams, etc. Serve as liaison between sales and marketing teams and agencies/vendors.

Communicate and enforce consistent use of corporate and product/market brand identity standards, and ensure consistent look and feel of company communications.

Research and generate story leads, coordinate and perform interviews, write articles, edit, and perform other duties that support a wide range of internal and external communications projects and channels:

  • Partner with regional businesses to develop new marketing/sales initiatives and campaigns, and manage communications and PR for new product launches and other regional news events;
  • Generate web, intranet and social media content;
  • Distribute regional employee announcements

Partner with key EA stakeholders to support H.B. Fuller’s participation in trade shows, media events and other, externally-focused company events:

  • Advise key stakeholders on event-related strategy and manage events from initial invitation process to post-event follow-up with participants
  • Partner with key stakeholders and external vendors to develop key messages, associated PR and/or editorial content, stand design and sales/marketing collateral;

Source promotional items and manage customer/supplier e-mail marketing

Develop and implement lead generation process for trade shows and other marketing events

Quantify success metrics, measure event outcomes and report key findings to business leaders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business administration or similar required 
  • Minimum 5+ years of directly related experience 
  • Excellent English writing, editing and presentation skills; ability to develop content appropriate for a wide range of regional and global audiences 
  • High level of creativity and ability to manage creative processes and deliver consistent, aligned content across multiple communications channels, including advertising, websites, social media, trade shows and events, media relations, content development, partner programs, and other key communications vehicles and activities
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results by partnering with individuals at all levels of the organization, collaborating with other functions across the company and around the world, gaining consensus, influencing organizational behavior and leading timely decision-making processes in a matrix environment 
  • Ability to develop strong communications strategies, plans and programs 
  • Ability to manage budgets and outside vendors 
  • Some experience using design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite or other, similar applications 
  • Travel - occasional regional travel required

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of the adhesives industry
  • Ability to influence and motivate others without direct reporting authority
  • Solid understanding of H.B. Fuller’s business strategy and portfolio
  • Language proficiency in Chinese and/or German
