C.H. Robinson is seeking a skilled Communications Specialist (Public and Media Relations) to lead innovative and effective integrated communications efforts for our North American Surface Transport (NAST) division. You'll help grow brand awareness and positive brand sentiment, increase share-of-voice and brand velocity, strengthen our corporate reputation, manage media relations and events, and generate leads. This is a highly-visible role and you’ll build lasting working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including media representatives, customers, growers and internal leadership.

You'll leverage your public relations and integrated communications background along with your ability to develop innovative and robust communications plans, write creative and engaging content, build audiences, connect with influencers, plan and execute events.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop integrated communications plans, messaging, and content for the division, working collaboratively with the Marketing team. 
  • Plan PR strategy and execute media relations on behalf of the division by fostering and building strong relationships with trade media to generate awareness and interest in the division, maintain media lists and pitching schedules, develop unique story angles to secure coverage on an ongoing basis, produce press materials such as press releases, pitches and talking points, coach spokespeople, monitor coverage. 
  • Develop content for and assist in the management of all NAST social media sites and external blogs. 
  • In collaboration with NAST marketers and enterprise trade show specialist, develop strategy and execute NAST participation in tradeshow events including preparation, messaging, attendance and post-event follow-up. This may include everything from securing speaking opportunities, preparing attendees, coordinating advertising efforts (including booth space), attending and staffing the tradeshow, media relations, conducting follow-up, etc. 
  • Manage several projects in various stages of development. 
  • Measure results and impact of initiatives, including events, social media and media relations efforts. 
  • Communicate effectively with Corporate Communications, other divisional communications, Marketing, Sales, Legal, and other business functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or related field preferred 
  • Minimum 4 years’ professional work experience in agency, corporate, or media setting, with an emphasis in public relations and social media 
  • Strong B2B experience 
  • Transportation and supply chain industry experience preferred 
  • Advanced proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn 
  • Experience with event management platforms, including Cvent, Greenvelope preferred 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize, multi-task, and meet expected deadlines 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong executive presence 
  • Resourceful, opportunistic approach to public relations, event management and social media 
  • Project management experience preferred 
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
