Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Communications Specialist in Manufacturing and Supply Chain will propose, plan, produce and measure integrated strategic brand and communications projects and campaigns that drive employee engagement and enhance 3M’s reputation and brand strategy. The ideal candidate has strong project management skills, a strategic approach to communications and an executional mind-set.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, develop, execute and measure global communications plans, programs, campaigns and content that align with the Manufacturing and Supply Chain communication strategy to drive engagement. 
  • Leverage cross functional teams and subject matter experts to develop and deploy engaging content strategies and tactics to reach the target audience on various areas of 3M publishing assets, including 3M; Go, 3M.com, videos and other areas as assigned. 
  • Work cross-functionally to write and edit impactful executive level speeches, scripts, talking points and other written materials. 
  • Support the creation and editing of engaging and impactful presentations including visuals and videos to align with 3M design and brand standards. 
  • Plan, organize and manage internal and external events which includes monitoring the logistics of these events, and all event coordination tasks after events are booked through the conclusion, by performing personally or through colleagues. 
  • Develop measurement techniques to assess results of programs and adjust plans as needed. 
  • Ensures production of deliverables consistent with communication strategy, plan and budget, with measurable impact on the organization's results. 
  • Oversees and directs agencies and partners on communications projects, presentations and executive events. 
  • Ensure alignment to corporate brand strategy, identity and tone of voice. 
  • Recommend and manage external resources and vendors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in Marketing, Communications, and/or Public Relations in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, or Mass Communication from an accredited university. 
  • Minimum seven years of combined experience in Corporate or Business Communications experience is preferred. 
  • Ability to translate strategic plan into execution of detailed tactical Communication Plan. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe software platforms (Premiere Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). 
  • Experience using SharePoint, Celum, Eloqua and JIRA. 
  • Proven executive communication and presentation building skills, oral and written, with ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels. 
  • Experience with speechwriting, compelling story creation, target audience segmentation, execution of communication tactics, etc. 
  • Experience organizing, coordinating and executing all details related to internal and external events. 
  • Skills include excellent verbal and written communication at multiple levels, strong project management skills, attention to detail, strong organization skills, problem solving and ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
