The Communications Specialist will perform a variety of specialized functions to assist with the organization’s communications and marketing. The Communications Specialist may have opportunities to interact with various members, committees and Board of Directors depending on tasks at hand. The Communications Specialist will assist with the coordination of communications in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals and will work under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Create and publish content for website, emails, social media, and marketing collateral 
  • Serve as the primary website administrator 
  • Assist in development and maintenance of content calendars
  • Build and maintain lists for content distribution 
  • Manage, build and measure online conversations and communities via social media 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of public relations activities, including creation, distribution, and tracking of press distributions across online and print media 
  • Monitor and create reports on web analytics and social media metrics 
  • Maintain a complete database of graphic, image and multimedia files 
  • Support marketing activities at the Annual Conference 
  • Complete general office duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or Journalism 
  • Demonstrated writing, proofreading and editing skills 
  • Experience with creating content for print materials, web, enewsletters, and social media
  • Familiarity with video production is a plus
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 
  • Graphic experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, is a plus
  • Experience working with a CMS website platform desired. Basic knowledge of HTML (CSS a plus)
  • Familiarity with SEO principles 
  • Comfortable working with a variety of web-based platforms 
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
