The Communications Specialist at Collegis Education must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an affinity for building relationships. Additionally, he/she should have an understanding of the earned media space and a passion for trends in popular culture. The primary purpose of this position is to help elevate the brand of Collegis Education’s largest higher education partner through earned media efforts to include creating compelling content, storytelling and pitching/placing of interesting content and stories that align with the partner’s brand and SEO best practices.

This position will also be responsible for helping manage more than 40 different social media accounts which includes daily brand monitoring and social media community management as well as contributing to social media campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Find and build relationships with bloggers, social media influencers, website owners and higher education journalists/reporters. 
  • Promote content through social media platforms and other forms of outreach to elevate the brand and support SEO initiatives. 
  • Research and vet potential content partners; participate in content brainstorming sessions. 
  • Assist with content creation, including interviewing, writing and shooting video. 
  • Responsible for daily brand monitoring, social media community management and reporting. 
  • Monitor higher education news and trends. 
  • Assist with collection and editing of media placements to archive and promote on social media. 
  • Collaborate with project leads to discuss plans, strategies and results. 
  • Bring forward fresh ideas for elevating partner’s brand through earned media efforts.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BA/BS Communications, Marketing, or related field of study. 1-3 years of experience working in communications, marketing or public relations. 
  • Self-starter with strong communication and critical thinking/problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and across functional teams. 
  • Comfortable and confident pulling together performance reports and insights using various brand monitoring platforms such as Meltwater, Google Analytics, Cision or Hootsuite. 
  • Ability to think critically to synthesize and integrate information from multiple sources. 
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest degree of business and personal ethics. 
  • Must be adept at use of MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
