In this role, as a Communications Specialist your primary focus will be to manage the publication of communications across all employee channels. You’ll partner closely with communication colleagues to deliver an optimal user experience for employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business communication leads to curate, review, post and distribute targeted communications to employees. Including: intranet articles; executive communication emails; videos; digital signage; event-related communications; employee social media posts, intranet content, etc. 
  • Manage a dynamic editorial calendar 
  • Maintain and publish content daily across internal communication platforms 
  • Collect, track, analyze and report on various qualitative and quantitative data to drive improvements and increase communication effectiveness 
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate as part of an internal communications team 
  • Provide tactical support for communication events 
  • Work with content owners to plan, write, edit and execute a wide range of communications 
  • Serve as a trusted partner and work effectively with Optum and UHG Communications partners – adding value and driving projects to achieve goals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) preferably in communications, journalism or related field and 5+ years of communication and / or media industry experience 
  • Proven capability in developing, managing and editing digital channels (corporate intranet, posting, building pages, editing stories) 
  • Strong project management skills (editorial planning, managing and analyzing data, deadlines) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint (creating and editing slides), Word (creating and editing word documents), Excel (general spreadsheet navigation, data entry, sorting and analyzing data) and SharePoint (posting, maintaining, creating data, documents and videos)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and / or use of Associated Press Stylebook (for editing reference) 
  • Experience collaborating with IT teams 
  • Experience working with employee communications platforms (corporate intranet, Cisco systems, SharePoint)

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • A ‘big-picture’ thinker, with the ability to provide timely, tactical guidance to teammates and cross-functional business partners 
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with desire to learn and grow in a dynamic organization 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills 
  • Operate with discipline and urgency while managing multiple projects 
  • Ability to be flexible and comfortable while working with ambiguity
