We have an exciting opportunity for a Content Strategist & Writer to join our Marketing Communications team! This role would be based at our headquarters in Milwaukee, WI.

  • Responsible for bringing Komatsu’s brand and strategic narrative to life through strategic content management.
  • This individual is responsible for driving effective strategies for content creation and serves as the primary content curator – directing support staff, including internal and external communications writers and strategists – to consistently and effectively tell Komatsu’s stories.
  • Develop and implement a content marketing plan that aligns with our strategic themes; incorporating product, service and regional messaging to convey our role as a global brand and effectively share information about the company as a whole.
  • Grow our audiences internally and externally by delivering valued content that enhances the company’s reputation.
  • Oversee internal and external content calendars – developing themes and communicating those for others to contribute.
  • Align content to external media calendars, as well.
  • Ensure consistent execution of messaging and brand principles in all corporate and marketing communications – directing others on how to align to brand voice and tell our stories effectively.
  • Act as a strategic resource for all teams when it comes to content creation.
  • Edit others’ content to ensure it always aligns to brand voice and strategy, as well as conforming to rules of grammar and AP style.
  • Develop the credibility and expertise to maintain strategic relationships that enhance effective content creation and support internal and external needs.
  • Help position the Komatsu brand via a thorough understanding of our people, products and services, as well as key industry players.
  • Leverage these relationships to continually grow our coverage areas and expert database.
  • Expert in the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Ability to write for senior leaders.
  • AP Style a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience, preferably as a journalist, with interviewing and writing, editing and strong ability to execute under tight deadlines.
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading teams to generate strong, engaging marketing content.
  • Must have a passion for storytelling and the ability to bring copy to life in ways that aligns to brand voice and strategic pillars.
  • Well versed in content management and creation for social media channels including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
  • Must understand how to use social media (facebook, twitter, linkedin, youtube) for business. Experience in targeted and boosted campaigns across channels preferred.
  • Skilled in Powerpoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or Communications ispreferred.
  • Must be very organized and able to juggle multiple daily requests and deadlines.
  • A willingness to push him/herself and the team to try new things.Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and to work on cross-functional teams, including executive leadership.
  • Displays confidence when speaking aloud and in writing.
