OVERVIEW:

This Corporate Communications Associate position at General Mills will be responsible for creating effective editorial content for the company’s intranet and website, and assist with creating content for the company’s blog and corporate social media channels. This individual will manage day-to-day editorial content publishing on the intranet (including a daily employee email newsletter) and content publishing on the website. Working in close collaboration with Global Communications colleagues, technical teams, internal/external stakeholders and agency partners, this individual will ensure the goals and objectives of each channel are reached. The Corporate Communications Associate will bring best practice strategies and emerging trends in content development, strategy, management, design and distribution to the role, with an emphasis on user experience for a global audience. The role also involves support for the company’s employee advocacy program and Yammer platform. The role will report to the Content Syndication and Channels Manager in Global Communications.

In This Role You Will:

  • Serve as a strategic and collaborative partner with the Content Syndication and Channels Manager, Communications Operations Manager, Global Communications team, technical teams, internal/external stakeholders and agency partners, to drive engagement on the intranet, website, blog and corporate social media channels, to enhance the reputation of the company and its brands with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Help create, maintain and execute a vision and roadmap for a sustainable and scalable intranet and website presence that clearly communicates the company’s strategies, goals and performance. 
  • Manage day-to-day workflow and changes on the intranet and website – and as needed, the blog and corporate social media channels – and help set strategy, timing and tactics for technology improvements and design, working closely with the Content Syndication and Channels Manager, Communications Operations Manager, Global Communications colleagues, technical teams, internal/external stakeholders and agency partners. 
  • Monitor and respond to employee comments on the intranet. And, as needed, monitor, listen and engage with stakeholders on the company’s blog and corporate social media accounts. 
  • Track, compile and analyze intranet and website analytics, and develop a measurement dashboard that clearly communicates context to Global Communications leaders, colleagues and teams across the company. 
  • Help develop intranet and website operating policies/procedures regarding security, content lifecycle, site ownership, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Content Syndication and Channels Manager and Global Communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging and timing of intranet, website, blog and corporate social media content. 
  • Develop content optimized for the user experience (text, multimedia, graphic design) and the unique aspects and capabilities of the intranet, website, blog and corporate social media platforms. 
  • Coordinate with the Content Syndication and Channels Manager, Communications Operations Manager, and Director of Internal Communications, on initiatives that support employee use of Yammer. 
  • Coordinate with the Content Syndication and Channels Manager and Director of Corporate Brand Public Relations on the creation and publishing of content for Yammer and LinkedIn. 
  • Serve as a strategic partner with the entire Global Communication team, supporting various initiatives, as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or related field. 
  • 2 to 5 years of professional writing experience/journalism, with strong writing, multimedia (video/audio production and editing, photography, graphics) and research skills. 
  • 2 to 5 years effectively managing, growing and utilizing a company intranet, website, blog and/or social media accounts for a corporation, business, organization, agency or brand.
  • Internal/external content strategy and social media platform experience, with a creative approach to content production and knowledge of content effectiveness, and the ability to simultaneously watch the details and think/manage strategically. 
  • Fluency in current best practices in intranets, websites, social media, public relations and marketing. And demonstrated understanding of media (paid social, SEM/SEO). 
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise messaging. 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, maturity and the proven ability to work and collaborate well with peers, managers and executives, while also working individually. 
  • Sound judgment and knowledge of content governance and social media legal guidelines. 
  • Ability to consistently deliver within established deadlines and Global Communications guidelines, while prioritizing, multi-tasking and advancing several projects simultaneously. 
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with technical teams to maximize common web technologies (Sitecore, WordPress), social management software and platforms (Yammer), newsletter syndication services, video and photo editing platforms and other web-based technologies. 
  • Demonstrated success in project management and internal/external engagement initiatives.
