American Transmission Co. was founded in 2001, as the first multi-state, transmission-only utility in the United States. Unlike most other utilities, we have a single focus: transmission. Our transmission system allows energy producers to transport electric power from where it’s generated to where it’s needed. It’s similar to the interstate highway system, with high-voltage electricity traveling on the transmission system wires like vehicles on the highway.

ATC provides electric transmission service in an area from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, throughout the eastern half of Wisconsin and into portions of Illinois. Our more than 9,600 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and more than 550 substations provide communities with access to local and regional energy sources.

We operate our system as a single entity, providing comparable service to all of our customers. Our customers include electricity producers and electric distribution companies who count on ATC to move power from where it’s produced to where it’s needed in the homes and businesses they serve.

Are you a storyteller? If so, join us as a Corporate Communications Specialist. In this role, you’ll write and produce internal and external communications for print, electronic and video. You’ll also coordinate social media, PR for community involvement activities, plan special events and coordinatespeaking engagements.

We’re looking for someone who will learn our industry and use your experience to provide a fresh perspective on our communications. You’ll use your bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or public relations and minimum of three years’ experience in those fields to research and write information for newsletters, presentations, web content, articles, video scripts, advertising displays and correspondence.

You’ll use your knowledge of AP style, social media platforms and Adobe creative suite to support a variety of ATC departments’ communication needs and ensure accuracy and consistency of messaging. Our industry is very technical, so we’re looking for someone who can easily translate technical terms and concepts for public consumption. 

We’re very involved in our local communities, so you’ll plan and organize both corporate giving campaigns and volunteer events for ATC employees as well as coordinate traditional and social media coverage for those events.
