Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required (most relevant academic fields include marketing, advertising, journalism, communication arts, graphic design, or related fields)
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- Seven years of professional experience, with increasing responsibility, in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, or a related field managing creative processes and project teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-oriented environment
- Outstanding design skills across multiple platforms that consider strategic outcomes
- A thorough understanding of branding and brand enforcement
- Fluency in developing brand style guides
- Outstanding editing and proofreading skills
- Expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience developing different styles of custom design work for a variety of audiences
- Ability to pitch creative concepts, lead the creative briefing process, and share design rationale in a compelling manner with clients and stakeholders
- Listening, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies across departments
- Experience managing through all phases of projects, including planning, scope and timeline management, project implementation, and evaluation
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple, simultaneous projects in a detail-oriented environment and contribute to the success of the entire team
- Experience supervising design staff
- Ability to mentor design staff so they are invested and engaged
- Proven experience in learning from data and evaluation results to inform decision-making
- Proven experience as a collaborative, thoughtful, open-minded, adaptive problem-solver
- Proven ability to be self-directed and to work both independently and collaboratively
- Proven ability to work with diverse internal and external audiences with energy, collegiality, patience, passion, curiosity, and a sense of humor
Candidate may also have one or more of the following desired but not required qualifications:
- Experience with project management software
- Professional experience in higher-education
