Summary:

As a member of the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery Development Team, the Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting development activities within the organization by assisting in the implementation of all strategies to achieve annual revenue goals. This position will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of quality for the donor data and for any tracking and reporting using the Crisis Nursery’s donor database. This position will coordinate and produce all donor gift acknowledgments, analyze donor data in order to implement best practice processes and procedures related to stewardship, assist the Development Team in major fundraising events, as well as work closely with the entire Development team including the Development and Communications Director, Annual Giving Manager, Grants Manager, and Volunteer Services Manager.

This position is targeted to start June 15, 2019.

Primary Responsibilities:

Act as database manager:

  • Record all donations on an ongoing basis in the donor database;
  • Manage the process of acknowledging all donations from institutional and individual donors, including updating copy, mail merging data, printing, and mailing;
  • Design and run reports and imports, including reports to support communications, finance, and grants;
  • Maintain a clean, accurate database;
  • Provide data to drive strategic decision making

Analyze donor data to identify trends and develop strategies to increase donations.

In partnership with the Annual Giving Manager, maintain processes for superior stewardship of current donors, prospective donors, and other partners, including the new donor welcome process.

Coordinate and execute queries and mailing lists for newsletters, communications, and fundraising campaigns.

Act as point of contact for donation inquiries, tracking, and acknowledgements.

Coordinate community fundraising and in-kind donation processes

Manage online donation forms and process credit card gifts

Work closely with the finance team to ensure donation and accounting accuracy, and to reconcile fundraising and accounting data.

Provide support to the Development Team and event committees surrounding major events to ensure all events are effectively organized, including:

  • Manage RSVPs
  • Track pledges, ticket sales, and invoice sponsors
  • Coordinate silent auction

Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • 1-2 years professional experience working in fundraising, database management, or finance. 
  • Demonstrated experience with donor database software preferred; knowledge of Sage/Abila/Fundraising 50 software preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, positively and professionally with staff, donors, and volunteers. 
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Creative problem solver; flexible and adaptable to change. 
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information. 
  • Willingness to positively support a dynamic development department in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds

Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated experience with donor database software; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, meticulous attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Customer service skills are essential, as well as proficient written and verbal communication skills.
