Kalmbach Media is currently seeking a Digital Editor - Science to join our Waukesha office. This individual will work with editors, writers and digital marketing on strategy to achieve targeted outcomes across all digital channels, including web, blogs, podcasts, video, email newsletters, social media and ecommerce.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the daily pace of digital content across channels to align with growth-based goals. 
  • Manage a small team of writers and bloggers, assign articles and edit copy. 
  • Work closely with the Executive Editor of the science group to set priorities. 
  • Apply SEO best practices and keyword analysis to drive content direction focused on improving key metrics. 
  • Develop and execute social media strategy to meet goals. 
  • Identify and solicit new writers, bloggers, podcasters and other potential additions to the content mix. 
  • Determine the best channel for various types of digital content to grow and retain audience. 
  • Continually build knowledge base on best practices for digital content. 
  • Measure effectiveness of efforts and report on results. 
  • Work with Digital Marketing, Online, Advertising, Art and Video Services to develop ideas and troubleshoot problems.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a science field and 4+ years of experience writing and editing digital content. 
  • Experience managing a team of writers is preferred. 
  • Experience using SEO, keyword analysis and other data to improve audience engagement and drive revenue goals. 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills and the ability to understand complex information and communicate it in simple terms to various audiences. 
  • Experience with website content-management systems, social media management for business, implementing SEO and using Google Analytics to drive content decisions. 
  • Photoshop, podcasting and video editing skills and experience with InCopy are a plus. 
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office products.
