APCO Worldwide is looking for a Digital Strategist to support new business efforts; partner with clients to develop, launch and optimize their digital business strategies; and build the digital capacity of staff in the Chicago office.

Our digital strategy group is a collaborative unit that works alongside our creative and technology teams. Our strategists help our clients identify and implement digital and social media solutions. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of data, trends, and insight and how these can be transformed into a competitive arsenal of resources on behalf of our clients.

The Strategist is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and thoughtful implementation of programs for a portfolio of clients. You will be expected to think of new research projects, methods and products APCO can develop to provide value in new ways. This position requires you to be proactive, spark debate and be seen as a resource able to consistently deliver actionable thinking. You will be a hands-on practitioner, committed to all aspects of executing your strategy along with team members with whom you would work and also delegate to. This position plays a key role in mentoring and training APCO staff at all levels, and your work will raise the level of digital acumen among all staff in the Chicago office. In addition, the role will require substantial new business development support, including insight identification, strategy formulation, proposal development and final presentation to prospects.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate capacity to tie data and insights directly to strategic business outcomes and build strategy to complement these connections 
  • Lead digital strategy engagements with a strong focus on analytics, meaningful digital experiences and well-coordinated influencer engagement 
  • Conduct research using digital and analytic tools 
  • Demonstrate experience and passion for the digital media tech landscape including social media platforms and digital analytics, monitoring and research tools 
  • Create digital measurement frameworks for clients and educate client and internal teams on measurement best practices 
  • Connect with clients to identify key strategic challenge(s) and business, communications and digital needs to be addressed; evaluate scope of strategic engagement 
  • Work cross-functionally with other strategy colleagues, client partners, discipline leads, and other internal partners 
  • Participate in business development to showcase APCO Worldwide’s digital expertise to potential and new clients 
  • Lead client accounts as necessary

Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of experience in a digital environment, ideally in consulting, business development, or strategy; agency experience a plus 
  • Successful track record of delivering strategically thoughtful projects that deliver measurable impact 
  • Excellent client and interpersonal skills; ability to manage independent client relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person 
  • Interest in working collaboratively across teams and offices in a dynamic environment 
  • Ability to learn the company and identify ways your expertise can add value across the APCO network 
  • Willingness to mentor and train staff at all levels 
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% typically within the U.S. though there may also be international business opportunities
