Job Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Communications, the Director of Communications is responsible for public relations, executive and internal communications, and brand communications to help build, protect and extend awareness of CNO Financial and its family of insurance brands to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and direct external communications strategies for CNO Financial, including public relations, media relations, research surveys, and CNO social media. 
  • Develop leadership communications, including speeches, presentations, talking points, leadership blogs, videos and byline articles. Provide strategic communications counsel to senior executives and business leadership groups across the organization. 
  • Direct the company’s internal communications strategy to engage associates in understanding the mission, vision, business priorities, HR initiatives and financial performance of CNO Financial. 
  • Responsible for the myCNO corporate intranet. Develop its editorial calendar, manage content to highlight business objectives and source compelling internal news stories that feature teams, departments and programs across the organization. 
  • Develop highly-visible communications campaigns and engagement events, including town halls, summits and associate celebrations. 
  • Responsible for CNO brand communications, including marketing services, brand identity standards, messaging strategy, and branded sponsorships with the NBA Indiana Pacers and the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. 
  • Deliver measurement for communications and brand awareness KPIs to gauge effectiveness and reach of internal and external communications. 
  • Achieve a comprehensive understanding of business segment strategies, target audiences, and key capabilities. 
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing team of four communications professionals that support public relations, associate communications, branding and sponsorships.

Education/Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations and internal communications. Exposure to sponsorship and community relations a plus. 
  • 5+ years of experience managing resources and/or direct reports. 
  • Proven success managing communications campaigns with measurable results. 
  • Excellent written communications and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to organize and manage project teams. 
  • Bachelor degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related degree. 
  • MA or MBA degree a plus.
