Are you seeking a long term, impactful, business development leadership role within our award-winning construction management firm?

JP Cullen is a Wisconsin-based $390 million plus, 126-year-old, family-owned construction management firm, seeking a best of class, award-winning Director of Business Development to support our Milwaukee Division. The right candidate can strategically prospect and close complex deals with key decision makers in the commercial, education, and healthcare market sectors. Our opportunities typically start at $5 million and can go into the $100 million plus range. If you have sold something significant to an executive, board, or committee (construction management, services, technology, etc.) in a longer, phased sales cycle environment, this role may be for you.

Selling construction management services is a way of life. It requires growing great networks, building trust and serving commercial, education, and healthcare clients at the executive levels. While there isn’t much travel, entertaining or attending important meetings at night is an expectation.

You may have worked at big companies and are tired of seeing your territory shrink. Maybe you were involved in a corporate downsize despite crushing your numbers. To join our team, you must have demonstrated success. If you have prospected and closed complex deals, in a strategic selling environment, at the executive, board, or committee level and you’re willing to learn our industry, we will invest in your success. To qualify, you must love working in a family/team environment (we are a 5th generation business) and love winning!

Our preferred candidates will:

  • Research, network and develop strong relationships with architects, engineers, influencers and decision makers because they love to compete, not because they’re being micromanaged
  • Have a 4-year degree and/or demonstrated experience in business, sales, marketing, project management, or other related field

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work with JP Cullen’s Owners, Division Manager, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing Team to develop and implement our sales and marketing strategy
  • Lead and participate in our proven team selling process
  • Manage client expectations from introduction through closing the deal
  • Develop strong relationships with key influencers and potential clients
  • Attend networking and client functions, often at night
  • Direct and assist with proposals, presentation and event strategy and execution
  • Live in the Milwaukee area and be based in our Milwaukee office
