The Director of Communications & Member Relations is responsible for member communications, outreach and events. This position reports to the Executive Director of the association and works with the Executive Director and members of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors to develop and execute strategies to maintain and grow the membership and meet the association’s other goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement marketing strategies for membership retention and recruitment. 
  2. Build working relationships with members,industry partners, business alliances and chambers of commerce. 
  3. Represent the association at member and industry events. 
  4. Prepare member, committee and other communications, including the monthly newsletter, board and committee minutes and event communications. 
  5. Coordinate grassroots activities in furtherance of TDA goals. 
  6. Organize and market association events. This involves working with facilities to secure space, communicating with speakers, processing event registrations and providing logistical support. 
  7. Work with service providers such as graphic artists, web providers, and others. 
  8. Maintain membership records and related databases. 
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, public administration, business, management or a related field. 

Other:

  • Good computer skills and competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Knowledge of WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite a plus. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Five years of professional experience. 
  • Social media and event planning experience is desirable. 
  • Must be able to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
