The Charlemagne Institute is seeking a Development Director to lead fundraising efforts and strategies with individuals and foundations in order to secure the financial sustainability of our growing organization.

Development Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategic plan for the Institute, in coordination with CEO, communications staff, and fundraising consultant 
  • Prospect, cultivate, and solicit financial support from individuals through calls, meetings, and attending relevant events 
  • Coordinate with executive staff and directors to support networking and solicitation of key supporters 
  • Plan and execute public and private events to increase Charlemagne’s visibility among the giving community 
  • Collaborate with communications staff on all fundraising communications, such as crafting of promotional materials, execution of online fundraising campaigns, and other solicitations in content offerings 
  • Craft effective fundraising messaging through mail, email, and video for individual supporters and subscribers across multiple platforms 
  • Direct fundraising efforts with foundations by identifying prospective institutions, cultivating relationships with stakeholders, and writing grants 
  • Utilize CRM to set fundraising goals, plan fundraising initiatives, analyze giving potential within supporter file, and target key segments

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in fundraising 
  • Proven record of financially securing the majority of an organization’s annual budget 
  • Tangible experience establishing and cultivating relationships with individuals and foundations 
  • Ability to communicate articulately and winsomely, both in written and oral forms 
  • Strong listening skills and demonstrated poise, discretion, and professionalism in diverse and difficult situations 
  • Ability to inspire and motivate supporters in advancing the Institute’s mission and programs 
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM strongly preferred 
  • Familiarity with social media or publishing preferred

  • Willing to travel and holds a valid state driver’s license 
  • Office at The Charlemagne Institute's Bloomington, MN headquarters

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Very competitive and commensurate with experience
