Magellan Promotionsis a rapidly growing promotional product marketing company located just outside of Milwaukee in West Allis, Wisconsin. We recently moved into our newly-renovated modern office that we are excited to grow into.

Since 2005, we have helped colleges, business and non-profits build a community through promotional product marketing solutions. Examples of the products we provide include custom imprinted pens, t-shirts, lanyards, flash drives, awards and more.

Promotional products are a $23+ billion-dollar industry and our sales rank in the top 5% of all distributors. We are a member of PPAI (Promotional Product Association International), an industry association that promotes and supports the growth of the industry.

Magellan Promotions is adding a Director of Marketing to grow our company through strategic and targeted marketing. The Director of Marketing will be responsible leading and building a marketing department that will create and execute a strategic marketing plan to grow Magellan Promotions.

Magellan Promotions growth has come through direct and indirect marketing initiatives and referrals. This position will be responsible for planning and executing the marketing plan to solve the specific and unique marketing challenges of the audiences that we target. While some of our marketing does target businesses and nonprofits, the bulk of the initiatives will focus on our collegiate niche. diences and provide promotional product marketing solutions to their marketing challenges. These audiences include a wide variety of businesses and nonprofits across a wide spectrum of industries, as well as our specific niche of Universities and strategic departments on their campuses. The promotional product industry is a relationship business, so engagement and solution-based marketing is key to fueling Magellan Promotions continued growth.

The purpose of the marketing department at Magellan Promotions is to drive growth through gaining new clients and increasing sales to current customers. The department’s success will be measured by the number of leads it is able to attribute to the marketing activities. The leads will be achieved through various direct and indirect marketing activities. Magellan Promotions works extensively with departments on college campuses, thus the bulk of the marketing will be focused on their marketing needs.

There are a number of direct marketing activities that will be led by the marketing department. One example is solution based strategic outreach to clients and prospects to help solve their challenges. This can be achieved on a mass basis or through individual outreach. Successful outreach campaigns have included sales materials, landing pages, mailed random and spec samples and thorough follow-up email campaigns. In addition, Magellan Promotions also exhibits at conferences to engage potential clients and build relationships. The marketing department will be responsible for planning the conference experience to maximize these opportunities. Additional examples of direct marketing initiatives include referral marketing plans, client on-boarding and building out partnership plans with strategic companies.

The indirect marketing activities include a number of digital responsibilities. These include managing and updating our website to provide positive first impressions, creating a favorable user experience and increasing opportunities for online orders and requests for information. In addition, the marketing department will be responsible for reviewing the effectiveness of website content and maximizing SEO opportunities, including blogs and case studies. The marketing department will also drive the social media strategy and manage all content.

The marketing department will be responsible for maintaining client lists and segmenting that data by industry, channel and geographic region. When necessary, the team will perform market research, competitive analysis, client surveys and product research to ensure that Magellan Promotions stays an industry leader in promotional products marketing.

Lastly, the marketing department will be evangelists of promotional products. By using industry data, surveys, case studies and external information, the marketing department will promote the power of promotional products.

The Director of Marketing should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6-12 years of applicable marketing experience in business-to-business or in higher education. 
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and support projects to drive strategic objectives with measurable goal attainment. 
  • Managing marketing staff experience is preferred. 
  • Excellent written communication skills. Demonstrated experience with strategic sales content creation. 
  • Ability to work through projects to identify opportunities to solve problems for clients. 
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills. 
  • Experience with WordPress or other CMS, SEO, Google Analytics, Constant Contact, Adobe Creative Suite and CRM databases is helpful.
