The Employee Engagement, Culture and Strategic HR Communication team, is responsible for the strategy and initiatives needed to drive culture and engagement outcomes for the employee stakeholder. This includes our Ambassador Program, enterprise and HR strategic communications support and positioning, heavy-up consulting and creative services, with a unified view across the Allstate family of companies.

The Corporate Relations Sr. Communications Consultant reports to the Corporate Relations Manager on the Employee Engagement, Culture and Strategic HR Communication team and is responsible for the development and distribution of strategic communications to and from HR, including proactive message integration for Allstate’s major culture initiatives. This role plays heavily into ongoing consulting work as it provides strategic communications counsel, positioning and support to major functional areas within HR, in addition to managing a number of critical communication vehicles, including Leadership at Allstate (a bi-weekly email newsletter for 5,000 Allstate people leaders), the Allstate HR Direct email box and the HR Community and Leadership at Allstate AllConnect sites. This position also supports HR department meetings and special engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic HR and culture initiatives, including Be a Force for Good, Leadership Principles and Our Shared Purpose 
  • Work closely with Allstate’s culture lead to promote and energize Allstate employees around the Leadership Principles 
  • Assist HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) in developing and delivering strategic communication plans and positioning 
  • With direction from the Communications Manager, lead content for Leadership at Allstate – bi-weekly email and community for people leaders 
  • Facilitate management of the HR Community with minimal guidance 
  • Content management for the Leadership Principles Community 
  • Help manage HR announcements 
  • Assist with content development for HR department meetings 
  • Format and distribute communications to Allstate employees on HR strategic initiatives using Allstate’s Employee Mass Mailing Application 
  • Help manage the HR communications calendar, and the integration of various strategic HR and culture initiatives 
  • Coordinate other strategic communication projects as assigned

This is an opportunity to unleash your creativity, develop your communication skills, learn about Human Resources, and help implement fresh ideas. This position will be located in Northbrook, IL as part of the Employee Engagement and Culture team.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree – Communications or related discipline such as English, journalism, etc. strongly preferred 
  • Approximately 3+ years of communications experience that demonstrates strong writing, editing and consulting skills. 
  • Previous direct experience in a communications role is strongly preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively partner and consult with individuals from all functional areas and across organizational levels 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deliverables and expectations, while working independently 
  • Knowledge of employee and employment branding concepts a plus 
  • Social media savvy and ability to build social media into communication strategies very beneficial 
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; experience with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and SharePoint a plus 
  • Video and graphic design skills a plus
