Responsible for the operations, planning and execution of Sonic Foundry’s presence at industry trades shows, customer events and corporate meetings.

  • Coordinate tradeshow attendance and display. A big part of the Sonic Foundry sales and marketing strategy is attending major tradeshows. Your job will be to manage all planning and logistics to get our booths up and running, ensure things run smoothly during the event and then making sure all assets are carefully dismantled, shipped and stored.
  • Plan and execute all special events. Sonic Foundry has a large and loyal customer base. We host a variety of events for our customer community, including our flagship customer event, an offsite, multi day conference attended by more than 400 customers. With the help of the marketing team your role will be central to planning and executing this event.
  • Event monitoring and reporting. Sonic Foundry spends a lot of resources attending tradeshows, Some events are better than others and new ones are popping up all the time. You will need to create a set of measurable variables so you get a feel for events that work and those that don’t and then be able to confidently make recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop a digital marketing and social media strategy to promote events
Skills You’ll Develop
  • Executional Excellence. You’ll be required to manage lots of moving parts – negotiating space contracts with venues, estimating and ordering food and beverage requirements, arranging audio visual equipment, ensuring that promotional materials are produced and mailed in a timely manner, and launch the marketing plan around the big events. You will need to be extremely organized and work well with cross functional teams, allowing nothing to fall through the cracks.
  • Event & Tradeshow Domain Expertise. With more than 20 different tradeshows per year, you will develop first-hand experience with all event and show logistics. You’ll be creating long lasting relationships with third party event planners and marketers, and be well positioned for a career in the huge event and trade show sector.
  • Planning & Coordination. You will become an excellent planner. The ability to think ahead, anticipate problems and create solutions fast and on the fly means you’ll have the skills to succeed in any operational environment in the events business or otherwise.

Education:

  • Equivalent of 4 years of college (Bachelors degree) or equivalent professional license preferred.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience n Marketing and/or Events.
  • Knowledge of trade show/event industry, performing installation, dismantle and logistics.
  • Effective project management skills, able to anticipate requirements and execute multiple projects simultaneously and often with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadline and pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through as necessary.
  • Ability to identify, recommend and implement new systems to improve operations.
  • Good team player, able to build excellent working relationships and make best use of interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to communicate will all kinds of people with diplomacy, tact and discretion.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook, Internet navigation and searching. Knowledge of Salesforce.com a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel.
