Position Reports to: Senior Designers; Director of Communications

Position Summary: The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and executing design concepts as well as maintaining visual appearance, usability and brand continuity. Areas of work may include but are not limited to: print design for advertising, direct mail and flyers, event invitations, environmental signage, design for web, and assistance with photo and video shoots.

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to interact and collaborate with all departments, specifically working with the Co-Senior Designers and within the Communications Department 
  • Taking projects from initial concept to finished piece 
  • Working on multiple projects under tight deadlines 
  • Maintaining individual workflow and project schedules 
  • The ability to effectively design within Goodman brand standards 
  • The ability to work across media 
  • Communicating with outside vendors

Competencies: Excellent visual, oral and written communication skills; strong knowledge of hardware and software tools for visual design, specifically the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); the ability to collaborate and contribute ideas within the department and cross-departmentally; a thorough knowledge of the institution and its current and past productions; a working knowledge of print and digital production. Familiarity with Mac OS, Wordpress and Basecamp is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, printers, as well as professional photo and video equipment. The employee is regularly reviewing and analyzing data on computers and in print media, generally in a stationary position. Occasional attendance at evening events is expected and may require traversing between rooms or groups of people.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field.

Additional Eligibility Requirements: 2+ years experience in art and design, preferably communication design; experience working with clients, vendors and other visual artists.
