The Internal Communications Specialist supports the internal communications messaging strategies for assigned Allina Health business units and/or corporate functions. This individual contributes to communications planning efforts, including the development of messages and other deliverables that align with the greater Allina Health strategy. The Specialist supports the internal communications team by helping prepare newsletters, manage AKN content and pulling and analyzing readership statistics that are used to inform recommendations. This position reports to the manager of internal communications and collaborates closely with internal and external communications team members.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development of plans and strategies for general campaigns and business unit needs. 
  • Provides insights into readership and other measurement data that helps the team demonstrate results and/or refocus strategies 
  • Helps manage the team’s processes for communications, measurement and distribution 
  • Oversees communication channels and processes as assigned 
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of employee/internal communications and communications vehicles for local business units/business unit leaders and/or system office functions/system office leaders 
  • Partners with communications team members, business unit/system office teams and leaders to deliver effective communications and communication strategies that support business objectives while maintaining or increasing employee engagement 
  • Creates messaging and materials for project based and regular, ongoing communications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent

Qualification/Skills:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in employee/internal communication/change management 
  • Bachelor’s degree communications 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Able to draft communication and project plans, including setting and achieving deadlines 
  • Experience in analyzing data to create informed recommendations 
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects and tight deadlines 
  • Strong writing skills; able to simplify complex concepts into meaningful copy and key messages 
  • Skilled at organization, project management and problem solving 
  • Motivated, engaging and self-starting 
  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Work Schedule:

  • This is a M-F position, 40 hours/week.
