The Department of Journalism, Advertising, and Media Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites applications to fill a probationary academic staff position in video storytelling with the possibility to lead to indefinite status. The appointment will start August 19, 2019.

The department offers an undergraduate major with concentrations in Journalism, Advertising/Public Relations, and Media Studies, and an M.A. program in Media Studies. We are seeking an academic staff member specializing in teaching video storytelling.

Areas of expertise should include television and/or video journalism and multimedia storytelling. Applicants should be prepared to teach video storytelling and production for television news and journalism on multiple platforms. We would welcome applicants who can produce videos for strategic communication and documentaries.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, media, communication, or a related field; five or more years of professional experience, professional experience in television and/or video journalism; two or more years teaching experience with evidence of teaching effectiveness 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s and/or terminal degree; ability to teach video storytelling courses other than news, such as documentary or video for strategic communication; advanced technical skills with camera/sound, audio and video editing.
