Overview:

The Global Internal/Employee Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing an annual communication strategy and plan (including various communication channels—including management of the organization’s employee-facing intranet) for Rotary’s global employees to 1) ensure timely awareness and understanding of organizational priorities, internal changes, etc., 2) develop strategies and tools to improve inter-team communications, 3) build employee confidence in management decisions, 4) generate excitement when appropriate, 5) promote change(s) in behavior(s) where applicable, and 6) drive results. This is a writing-intensive role.

You Will Be Responsible For:

Internal Communications to Staff

  • Collaborate with the Global Talent Acquisition team to create employer brand-appropriate, motivating, and inspiring job postings for all open positions 
  • Collaborate with the Global Total Rewards team to develop and execute a communication strategy and plan for Rotary employees as it relates to open enrollment, changes/updates to benefits plan, changes to premiums, introduction of new benefits, termination of existing benefits, unutilized benefits, relationship(s) among and between benefits, etc. 
  • Collaborate with the Global Talent & Organization Development team to develop and execute a communication strategy and plan for Rotary employees as it relates to professional development opportunities and enterprise talent management activities 
  • Collaborate with the Global People & Culture team to develop and execute a communication strategy and plan for Rotary employees as it relates to the employee experience—engagement, culture, performance management/EPICs, facilities, technology, etc. 
  • Collaborate with (and provide coaching to) members of the Executive and Senior Management Teams to ensure that their communications are brand-appropriate, transparent, and clear and that they are aligned with our vision to lead the way to an extraordinary employee experience (all communications related to organizational priorities require consultation with the Corporate Communications team to ensure consistency and unity) 
  • Collaborate with members of the enterprise Project and Product Management teams to develop and execute staff-facing project/product-specific change management communications plans 
  • Plan, create, and/or edit audience-appropriate content intended for Rotary employees 
  • Develop research-based and data-driven personas to segment Rotary’s internal audience for use in targeting messages to audience segments 
  • Plan and create “all-staff”/”all-hands” meeting materials (announcements, agenda, presentations, videos, speakers, general secretary talking points, etc.) 
  • Establish metrics to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communications
  • Other duties as assigned

Employee-Facing Intranet

  • Serve as product owner for Rotary’s global intranet and internal digital signage technology platforms (English-only) 
  • Promote intranet usage among employees 
  • Train, coach, and support others on how to add, delete, and edit content 
  • Recommend improvements/enhancements 
  • Ensure usability, functionality, and navigation 
  • Monitor and edit (as necessary) intranet postings and activities to ensure proper grammar, Rotary voice, and Rotary style 
  • Serve as primary intranet support for employees 
  • Serve as Rotary’s main point-of-contact for intranet vendor(s) and as liaison between Information Technology (IT) and intranet vendor(s) 
  • Ensure regular and timely updates to business units’ intranet pages

You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, creative writing, or related field or equivalent relevant work experience (masters preferred) 
  • Minimum 1-year experience in internal/employee communications and intranet management 
  • Prior experience developing and executing corporate communication strategies and plans 
  • Proven experience using a variety of communication channels and tools 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, cultivate, and sustain strong interpersonal relationships with employees at all levels of the organization 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Strong time management skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills 
  • Extraordinary writing skills 
  • Human resources experience 
  • Experience in corporate communications at a global organization 
  • Experience with SharePoint, Enplug digital signage, and Yammer highly desirable
