WATG seeks a marketing intern to help take it to the next level in visibility and influence. This is a virtual position that serves the entire state of Wisconsin. Intern will work remotely from home. Commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per week with schedule determined by the intern. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Develop a marketing plan for the organization 
  • Update and maintain WATG’s social media presence, including scheduling Facebook and Twitter updates 
  • Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter 
  • Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories 
  • Design flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by WATG 
  • Update the WATG website when needed 
  • Attend monthly virtual meetings and prepare and present report on activities 
  • Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message about WATG 
  • Collaborate with Board on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications 
  • Plan and facilitate virtual Marketing Committee meetings including distributing agenda and taking minutes
  • Assist with yearly state-wide conference
  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space 
  • Working toward or completion of a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations) 
  • Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus 
  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. 
  • Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus 
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral 
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts 
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines 
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of WATG and the families we serve

$100 per month stipend. 

Will leave the internship with an understanding and appreciation for how a small non-profit works.
